In the next couple of months, the time will be coming around when the summer ebbs away and winter begins to rear its ugly, frosty head. In between these two extreme seasons is fall, a time of year that is unpredictable, fresh and for many a time of new beginnings. Whether you have got a new job after a long hot summer or are starting a new college course, your wardrobe will need a little updating before you are present yourself to the world again. There are certainly things packed away from last year that can be brought out, and nobody expects you to buy a whole new wardrobe, but keeping on trend can be as simple as buying a few statement pieces and setting them off against your existing items. Bring out what you have if you can’t remember, and identify which items could do with freshening up and which ones are good for another year, have you been wearing the same jacket for the last four years? Invest in a new one this year.  Staying up to date doesn’t have to break the bank, if you are clever about what you buy and start collecting things now, you will be ready for anything by the time the seasons change.

Pants

2017 has been about white jeans, capri trousers and culottes thus far. We have seen a big increase in the amount of stylish, classy items on offer and what is on trend has seemed to move beyond street style (finally) to something a little more chic. When moving through into the colder months of the year, these styles will likely hold to a certain degree but always keep your eye out for new and innovative ways to wear them. While your high waisted jeans looked great with crop tops in the summer, in the fall and winter, they can be worn atop a close knit sweater. Similarly, culottes look great with a pair of mules for a summer evening, perhaps in the fall team them with long socks underneath to keep your legs warm and a pair of good sneakers. The best way to move into the new season is to work first with what you have.

Sweaters

Sweaters are not a big feature of our summer wardrobes, but for the advent of fall they are a season must have. First and foremost, notice what type of colors have been in fashion this year. It has been a year of muted colors, intermixed with a blend of cream, beige and off white. If you are looking for something a bit different and unusual to take you into the season ahead, check out Pantone’s color of the year. Although largely an interior company, they really know their colors. Watch out as many items hit the shelves for winter of this hue, you might be able to stay ahead of the game by buying now.

Accessories

When you need to accessorize for fall, the same rules apply, but depending on your look you may want to ramp it up a gear. Without bronzed pins and colorful crop tops, the winter wardrobe can seem a little drab and clunky. The best way to counteract this is to get jewelry, bags and other small accessories and inject some fun into your outfit like this. If you have the same old phone case you’ve had since you bought the phone, consider getting something fresh and new. We spend so much time on our phones, having it look good should be a priority. If you can’t find one you like in store or online, why not try designing your own with CustomEnvy.com and have something that nobody else has.

Long Dresses

One of the best things about the colder months is being able to layer up and wear thicker fabrics that aren’t an option when it is totally roasting outside. Whether you are really tall and would suit a maxi dress, or are a little shorter and might wear something mid-calf better, have a look at some of the styles to drop in 2017.

Sneakers

The sneaker is so iconic, it is probably never going to disappear. Whether it is summer, winter or sub-Arctic temperatures there really is a style for every season. When considering what kind of sneaker to buy for this fall, think about what you will be wearing it with. If you are likely to be wearing a lot of dresses, perhaps don’t go for a high top unless you have naturally very slim calves. If you prefer trousers, think about getting a wedge or platform trainer and bringing in a bit of height to your look. If you are stuck for inspiration, take a look at some inspiration and see if there’s something that you might not have considered. Check out what other people are wearing and try to establish what you like and what you don’t like; remember that whatever looks good on them will look different on you. With everybody and their Mom wearing sneakers these days, taking the time to get something unique and different will set yourself apart from the rest. Remember, be bold!

Handbags and Rucksacks

There has been a whole wave of micro rucksacks on the market in the last few years, from ones made of velvet to denim and leather, the miniature backpack is cute and definitely on trend. If you need a little more space than this, why not look into getting a larger, sleek rucksack that can carry a laptop and also anything else you might need? Leather is a sure fire way to look more like a power woman, and less elementary school. If you are more of a traditionalist when it comes to your handbag needs, investigate what new brands have burst onto the market since you last bought one. Things change quickly, and don’t be tempted to buy from the same place you buy every time. Brand loyalty does not equate to style, and you might be better placed to try something a bit different.
